Product Definition
Brucite is the mineral form of magnesium hydroxide, with the chemical formula Mg(OH)2. It is a common alteration product of periclase in marble; a low-temperature hydrothermal vein mineral in metamorphosed limestones and chlorite schists; and formed during serpentinization of dunites.
Uses
Brucite has many helpful uses. It is often used as flame retardant filler in the plastic industry and paper-making industry. It can be used as an additive in chemical fertilizer and the environmental protection field. It is also used as furnace additive in steel-making industry.
